The NKM Viewer is a tool (excel file) used to view the .nkm Data.

Works in:

- Microsoft Excel 2003
- Microsoft Excel 2007 (haven't been tested yet)

Features:

- It allows you to import every Final MKDS ROM .nkm file and .nkm Beta Files
- It reads every part of the .nkm Data. (Except battle maps)
- It shows most of the data settings in different sheets depending on the type of data.
- It contains a Graphic Viewer where you can see how the data is placed.
- It has an object name's DataBase so the Tool can recognise almost every object.
- It has a NKM Exporter that works perfectly. You can choose the number of laps when exporting it.
-

Work In Progress (future updates):

- Adding more object names to the NKM Viewer Database.
- Trying to figure out more settings that are unknown at the moment.
- Finish KMP Exporter.
- Close the file better.

Things to take into account when Using the latest Version (NKM Editor Beta)

- In order to add a point, just increase the amount writing the following ID Number and complete every setting that the object needs. Else the exporter won't work properly. The editor will only read the consecutive ID Numbers so be careful with that (for example, if its (1,2,3...9,10,11) and you write 13 after that, the editor will think they are only 11 points and that are the points that it will write.
- You can view the "PATH" section but NEVER MODIFY it. If you want to add / delete sections, do it with the Command Buttons located in the Route Data (POIT).
- NEVER modify a text (sheet titles, text on the Route data ("Section 1")), Some of the Command Buttons need to read that titles and they would get screwed up if they are modified.
- In CPAT, IPAT and EPAT (checkpoint, item and enemy sections), in the setting ("Comes from") and ("Goes to"), "FF" means none. You need to write FF though, writing "None" or leaving it blank would not work.
- I added a KMP Exporter (for Wii), it exports start position, enemies, checkpoints, itemas and routes correctly but it has problems with AREA and CAME, so exporting a file directly won't work, you need to modify it after.

Any other suggestion is welcomed, but you need to know I'm not good at programming so maybe I just won't know how to do it, hehe.

If you find any problem with the tool, please report it to me in this topic.

Well, I think it it's OK to start a new topic with this in stead of continuing in the NKM files topic:

OK so as I said I was trying to make a .nkm viewer (editor maybe if I finish with the viewing part). This is the first tool I have made, it's done on Microsoft Excel 2003 though since I don't know how to code in anything else, but I think it's OK to use this for the moment.

I'm not releasing the file yet since importing doesn't work (I need to fix some things manually) although I'm nearly done with it, an there's still lot of things that should be improved before v1.0 release.

Also I should add that there are still lot of unknown values in .nkm I don't know what they mean, plus there are some parts that are not read yet.

You usually aren't allowed to double post, but I see a good reason (reserved for last updates).

Anyway, looks nice, and maybe to accurate?
I mean, there are dots anywhere, I can't even find everything! (O.O")

Well, that was because I had everything activated at that time. You'll be able to hide / show whatever you want.

Here is an example of Enemy Routes and Objects Positions activated only.

What I still don't get it whet is AREA and CAME?
And also, how do you know what object value is which, apart from item box?

I'm not completely sure what is AREA and CAME, but both are related to camera views (replays, intro, etc.)

We'll need to know what object value is which by experimenting, and then I'll be adding a Database to the tool so it'll say more objects than iremboxes and another few I already guessed.

I think Jimbo390 knows some, since he did a hack of the NKM of Test1_Course, while we were trying to get it working.
He discovered the values of the gears from Tick-Tock Clock, the round thing from Bowser Castle, and the bridge from Delfino Square.
And you know Goombas and Piranha Plants because of your GCN Mario Circuit hack.
But there's still a lot more.

v1.0 is released already, Updated first post.

I have only tested it in microsoft excel 2003, if anyone has another version (or openoffice) please test it to see if it works too.

To make it work, you'll also need to set "Medium secutiry" in Security Options so Buttons will work, since high security disables them

It doesn't work in OpenOffice.org, but I can view the document.

Although I already said that on MSN, here's a screenshot to give you a better look at it.

As you can see, I can view the file itself, but none of the buttons and options are working.

Just realised OpenOffice's Macros are made in a different way, so it wont work for the moment, sorry. I may try to convert it soon though.

The "load new file" option causes it to crash be unable to load anything.
And the buttons don't work for me either, I get some error. I have Microsoft Excel 2002.
I can load the file, though.

I added an exporter to the tool now so I guess I need to rename the file to "NKM Editor".

I have already succeed with the tool adding a camera intro to Split-Up-Beach (nokonoko_course) made by me, changing some of the data.

I'll try to find out how to convert the tool so it can work with OpenOffice or other Microsoft Excel versions.

By the way how can I change the topic name?

Nice done, but kinda weird, compared to the other tracks.
To edit the thread title, click "Edit", and click "Use Full Editor".

It's an MS Excel file, not a Win32 Application.
