Seeing as I'm new to dshack, and just left mkdscentral, I've decided to copy the first post of my first thread there, so here.

Mario Kart DS N64 Circuit is a mkds rom hack I started about a month ago. All that has been completed is modifying the course names, changing the retro grand prix course pictures, and some retro courses replaced with n64 custom courses made by some of the members of this forum.

Here is a list of things that will be in the hack when finished:

-All completely new nitro courses
-All retro courses replaced with n64 courses in corresponding slots.
-All music replaced
-Custom Characters made by me(not all will be replaced)
-New Title screen picture
-N64 battle courses, one GBA battle course(battle course 4), and one SNES battle course(battle course 1).
-Custom karts
and...
-The pipe frame kart replacing the standard kart

 

Most of the stuff I'm having trouble with is getting the course models from mk64(I'm not very good at it) and moving Banshee Boardwalk to the sky garden slot without it crashing the game at the part with bubba the fish jumping from the water. I do have a video that shows one of the music hacks I've made and it can be found at the link below.

Well, last I remember, there were four that I added at the beginning of development, all of which were made by other members of the board(all of which I'll list in the staff roll), but I have started working on SNES battle course 1 in sketchup(the reason I'm adding the GBA and SNES battle courses I listed, is because of the two leftover battle level slots in the ROM) but once I receive a couple of more n64 courses(the .carcs and such), I might be able to release v1.4 at last.

Thanks, Koopa! Hey, once you send it to me, do you mind if I texture hack the road to make it look a little bit like its mk8 remake, but more retro style? ;)

I plan for the final version, to use the wall textures from the kiosk/beta version of SNES Mario Circuit 1 as the wall textures of the battle course.

I added N64 Circuit to the Hack Store, get it here.

And now that that has happened, I can start working on v1.4, with the Pipe Frame, more tracks completed, and maybe even custom characters, Arctus Platner and Adult Link, who knows, I do, so be prepared for v1.4, as it will take a while to release. :D

Okay, here are my plans for v1.4:

Already Added to v1.4:
- Added Tomix's pipe frame kart
- Added koopa troopa/Yawshi's n64 RR music hack

Planned for v1.4(not yet implemented):
- improvement of Royal Raceway model, kcl, and nkm
- improvement of Koopa Troopa Beach model, kcl, and nkm
- addition of custom character, Adult Link
- improvement of piranha plant slide(pipeway) music hack
- addition of SNES Battle Course 1
- addition of GBA Sunset Wilds music hack
- addition of GBA Yoshi Desert music hack
- addition of GBA Lakeside Park music hack
- DK Texture Hack, SMK Donkey Kong Jr.

That is all I have planned for v1.4 right now, but I do hope to add more, as well.

I enjoy testing things in my hacks, checking to see what works, and what doesn't, I mean it's fun! And I recently tested the kiosk demo/beta donut plains skybox in the original slot for n64 block fort, annnnd, it crashed my game(maybe I should use the one from the final, :P), good thing I had a backup of it, otherwise, I would have had to start v1.4 all over again. o_o

Heh, heh, lol.

I'm trying really hard not to become disorganized with this version, like I had been while I was working on versions 1.0 through 1.3, and doing so has made working on v1.4, a breeze, but v1.4 might not see a release until the end of October, meaning, I have a lot of progress planned for it(just like v1.1-v1.2), but I hope it does well in the long run.
