Feature-Length Nut Expansion Pak

Hey everyone! It is coming: custom objects. I am here to present you the penguin object:

I will be working on it, and as soon as it is good enough, I will release it.

Currently it just walks around on your assigned route. No sound, no collision. I don't know yet how to do sound, but the collision will be added soon.

It's a bit like the goomba object. It's a rectangle with a texture of a penguin on it (animated using a nsbtp).

It is made for the EU version of MKDS. But I am going to have a look at the differences soon, and maybe it is just as simple as shifting the addresses a bit or something. If it's not as easy as that, you'll have to port your hack to an european rom.

It's fine just the way it is, but to put it simply, nobody cares if it's 2D or 3D the DS isn't powerful you know.

Anyway it would be a waste of time to reprogram it to use a 3D model, 2D objects freeze the game on a real DS if you put a 3D object over it due to the 2D animation file format. I know this because i attempted to put gericom's cataquacks over the goomba object and, it made the game freeze. That reminds me... Gericom can you make a 2D cataquack object when your done with this?

No. That's a waste of polygons. Which would you want, a model that looks absolute shit, or a nice looking texture that is animated?

I pretty much made the small bowser statues in N64 Bowser's Castle flat polygons to save space in the model.

Reprogramming is not the problem. Don't forget this is a fully custom object. It is just replacing a couple of nsbtp functions by nsbca functions and replacing a function for getting a billboard matrix by a simple position matrix.

Exactly. The original model has about 270 triangles.
